With about 11 months to go, we are in a bit of wedding planning limbo. The big decisions have been made (ie our reception venue has been booked and our deposit placed) but we are a bit too far from wedding day for much of the other planning. You’d think having more than a year would be a blessing, but as someone who is a pretty meticulous planner, I like to get the ball rolling ASAP! I think having this much time is a bad thing not ideal, since it gives me more time to change my mind…which I tend to do…ok, I do all the time!
Obviously, I do what many semi-crafty wedding dreamers do and peruse tons of wedding blogs and websites for inspiration and ideas. My favorite is Wedding Chicks, which has tons of incredible ideas on how to add personal touches to what can be an extremely unoriginal event (we can’t all be Kim Kardashian or wear Kate’s gown). I have lots of folders on my computer with pictures of flowers, cakes, escort cards, and anything else you can imagine! Of course, I have a folder dedicated to bridal gowns, but that is for another post.
Overall, we have almost settled on a color scheme (remember, I’m a mind changer…). Here is what we’re thinking:
For those of you who know us and our background, these colors may ring a little bell
They may be tweaked a bit. Tom and I were originally thinking of doing a brighter yellow and blue, but I think the softer yellow and darker blue will really complement our theme. Yes, there is a theme. Again, planner…
Anyway, I wanted to share a little collage of some of my favorite images that I’ve found so far.
I love the color of these dresses. I haven’t decided if I want to use the gray or the blue for the bridesmaids’ dresses yet. I think the blue is probably a bit safer, but I the gray is unique and beautiful.
How fun are these flowers? I found a website here that gives you simple, step-by-step instructions on how to make them. I think these may or may not make an appearance somewhere.
I love this idea of a wedding tree for notes and words of wisdom from our incredible friends and family.
I think that’s enough wedding-talk for one post. One important thing for brides to remember (and something that I’m working on) is that not everyone in the world gets as excited about your wedding as you do. Yes, they are happy for you. Yes, they will smile and nod. No, they don’t really care what color paper you use for that little wedding tree up there. Only you do

So I figured this would be the best post to leave this comment as it’s the most relevant… so I was scanning blogs here on wordpress and came across one that’s called thetwentysomethingblog. I don’t know if you’ve come across it but she has some great craft ideas but also has a LOT of wedding stuff…I think she’s a wedding planner. I pinned a few things from her blog on my pinterest, but I think you might be interested in some of the stuff she’s posted. check it out when you get a chance
happy Thanksgiving!
Great color scheme…the muted tones are great… And I agree: the grey is a beautiful color
